R.J. Pineiro's passion for martial arts started in 1986, at the age of 25, long before he had any aspirations to become a writer. He trained under Master Dennis Goetcher for several years, earning his first degree black belt in 1989. He continued on, training under Master Paul Hammonds, getting his second degree black belt in 1994.
R.J. Pineiro's son, Cameron, is falling right into his father's footsteps, though he started when he was only seven years old. Cameron completed all of his first-degree black belt requirements in 1999, earning the coveted belt on December 17th of that year, just under three years after starting his training.
