The short story 'The Eagle and the Cross' in the book 'Victory Into the Fire' is entertaining but is has several errors that should have been caught with basic research. As far as I know, the P39 was called the Airacobra, not Aircobra. Also the pilot entered and exited the plane through a car-like door on the side, not through a sliding canopy. Thus references to pulling the canopy open or the canopy jamming are just not believable.
